Mark the rope at 5'10" then tie a simple knot on the end you measured from and tighten it down with pliers. Cut the 3/32" cable in half and thread it around the knot as shown using two 3/32" ferrules and hammer the ferrules closed.

Tie a loose monkey fist knot around the rope. Make sure the simple knot is tucked inside and the cable loop is sticking out one of the corners.

Here is a handy link that shows how to tie the knot. It may look complex at first glance but it's pretty simple. You may want to practice a few times to get the hang of it.

Once the knot is in place, begin to tighten it by hand starting from the end with the simple knot. Tighten the knot agin using a screwdriver to pry the rope loose and pliers to pull the rope tightly. Keep making the monkeys fist tighter until you come to the mark you made earlier, this may take a couple passes.

Cut the spare rope loose with a sharp knife and use the school glue all around the cut end.

These wicks are about the same size and weight as medium cathedrals. You can use different width kevlar rope to make the wicks bigger or smaller, and you can also add another round of loops to the monkeys fist (four instead of three) for increased size. Keep in mind that thicker rope and more loops will require a longer rope length to begin with.
